Celebrating the first ADN Forum anniversary in Madrid, Patricia Bustos Studio has created the “Mecano Mobile” in collaboration with Sixty Pro.

Inspired by the architecture of Carlo Scarpa, the “Mecano Mobile” represents a new way of conceiving modular kitchens formed by a structure organized like a meccano set, perfectly integrating storage volumes with seating and bar areas.

Using geometries and polygons, we aim to create visually striking forms and design new kitchen formats composed of more complex structures that explore new aesthetic possibilities in the world of kitchens.

The entrance pays homage to Scarpa with a seventies-style facade of perforated polycarbonate through which light enters via organic shapes contrasting with the interior geometry. The idea is to recreate terraces and levels to play with movement within an initially rigid orthogonal box.

The layout is divided into three areas: a central kitchen area, a lateral office area, and on the opposite side, the water and high countertop area, creating a sequence of spaces with careful manipulation of light that enhances the entire ensemble.

Playing with contrasts between the organic and the geometric, between the very small and the very large, between the whole and the parts, and managing light to accentuate these contrasts, which are also reflected in the selection and arrangement of materials, such as the use of geometric mosaics and tiles in specific patterns to create interesting visual effects.

The lacquered wood in gradient emerges from the walls as an extruded volume that breaks down the lines of the container, generating a harmonious movement reminiscent of piano keys or dominoes. The retro volumetric checkerboard tiles contrast with the smoothness of the lacquer and the backlit etched glass, tempered by a completely carpeted floor and a bench in
